Who does this notice affect?
Importers, stevedores and brokers of GAS (Giant African Snails)/CAL (Country Action List) cargo awaiting clearance or inspection of containers.
Stakeholders in the import and shipping industries—including stevedores, freight forwarders, importers, customs brokers and master consolidators—associated with importing goods that require increased intervention during the BMSB risk season (shipped between 1 September 2018 and 30 April 2019 inclusive).
What has changed?
Further to IAN Notice 172-2018 of 30 November 2018, the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources has resolved issues with the processing of GAS/CAL cargo clearances and the management of LCL/FAK containers for BMSB risk containers in S-Cargo.
The department is working to clear backlogs of CAL and BMSB risk containers held in the S-Cargo system as a priority.
