16-2018 – AQIS Entity Identifier (AEI) requirements for sulfuryl fluoride (SF) treated consignments from Italy

14 February 2018

Who does this notice affect?

Customs Brokers involved in the import of SF treated consignments from Italy into Australia.

What has changed?

Due to the increased risk of brown marmorated stink bugs (BMSB) entering Australia via consignments imported from Italy, the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources (the department) has implemented increased risk management measures.

To facilitate these new measures, AEI data must be entered into the Integrated Cargo System (ICS). This requirement is effective immediately.

Where consignments are accompanied by an Italian SF treatment certificate, Customs Brokers must select the appropriate AEI in the ICS, following the guidance provided on the SF webpage on the department’s website at: Offshore sulfuryl fluoride treatment providers. Departmental profiling will then ensure consignments are referred to the department where required.

Where the required AEI is not entered at the time of lodgement the consignment will be held pending an amendment. This is a requirement under the Minimum documentary and import declarations requirements policy and a non-compliance may be issued for failure to meet the requirements as they relate to the class 19.1 or 19.2 broker Approved Arrangements.

At present these measures only apply to SF treated consignments from Italy.
