Who does this notice affect?
This notice is of interest to importers (and their customs brokers) of fresh citrus from Egypt.
Date of effect
This Industry Advice Notice applies to consignments of fresh citrus from Egypt that arrive on Australian territory from 1 February 2018.
Notice
The Department of Agriculture and Water Resources (the department) relies on documentation to assess goods meet Australia’s import conditions. This Notice is to advise importers and brokers, that the department will not permit reissuing of documentation for consignments of citrus from Egypt, that have arrived on Australian territory from 1 February, with the following documentation errors:
- missing or incorrect lot numbers on the phytosanitary certificate or carton label
- evidence that goods were prepared for export for markets other than Australia (e.g. Product intended for export to Russia); and,
- labelling not in English.
BICON conditions for citrus from Egypt have not changed.
