Who does this notice affect?
This notice affects customs brokers, agents and importers of honey or bee products, including honeycomb, propolis and royal jelly.
What has changed?
The Department of Agriculture and Water Resources has finalised changes to the Biosecurity (Prohibited and Conditionally Non-prohibited Goods) Determination 2016 to include requirements for honey and bee products that enter, or are unloaded in, Western Australia.
The legislative change became effective on 21st December 2016 and requires government certification to accompany consignments of honey and bee products that enter, or are unloaded in, Western Australia.
The details about the requirements are available in the department’s Biosecurity Import Conditions database (BICON). Stakeholders should check BICON prior to importing to Australia and ensure all required conditions can be met.
