Who does this notice affect?
This notice is of interest to importers and customs brokers associated with the importation of fresh cut flowers/foliage of Chrysanthemum spp. from Ecuador.
What has changed?
A pest risk assessment of importation of cut flowers, Chrysanthemum spp from Ecuador has been conducted by Plant Biosecurity, Department of Agriculture and Water Resources. As a result, conditions for fresh cut flowers and foliage of Chrysanthemum spp have been changed and updated to include Ecuador as a permitted country of export.
It has been determined that Chrysanthemums from Ecuador can be imported into Australia subject to an Import permit. The import permit requirement is an interim measure to facilitate trade until a legislative process has been completed.
Import conditions can be found at Biosecurity Import Conditions system (BICON) by searching ‘Cut Flowers’.
