Who does this notice affect?
This notice affects importers of wood-based products regulated under Australia’s illegal logging legislation (ie products imported under specific Customs tariff codes within chapters 44 (wood and wood articles), 47 (pulp), 48 (paper and paperboard) and 94 (furniture)) and processors of domestically grown raw logs.
What has changed?
Illegal Logging Compliance Advice Notice 1/2016 has now been published.
This advises that the initial illegal logging ‘soft-start’ compliance period has been extended from its original expiry date of 30 May 2016, subject a review that is currently underway.
