New requirements for log and sawn timber exports to Malaysia
Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS) has received notification from the Malaysian Department of Agriculture that the requirements for exporting timber from Australia to Malaysia have changed, with new conditions becoming effective from 1 September 2010.
From 1 September 2010, all timber (including sawn timber) and log exports from Australia will require an import permit from Malaysia and an Australian Phytosanitary Certificate. AQIS has also been advised that timber exports will require fumigation treatment or kiln drying. Details of treatment requirements will be stated on import permits and may vary between different timber products.
