Purpose
This Industry Advice Notice (IAN) is to advise authorised officers (AOs) of updates to the instructional material for completing plant export inspection and treatment records.
Summary of changes and key points
- The Exports work instruction: Completing plant export inspection and treatment records has been updated.
- Updates include:
- clarification of when the Plant Exports Management System (PEMS) must be used to complete inspection and treatment records
- when and how an inspection or treatment record can be amended post-submission
- clarification of when a bulk vessel loading running record must be completed and how to record pests/contaminants
- improved content descriptions for data fields on inspection and treatment records.
Background
The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry publishes instructional materials that direct and support industry and AOs to understand their responsibilities and perform their roles relating to the export of prescribed plants and plant products from Australia to ensure the objects of the Export Control Act 2020 are met.
Authorised officer responsibilities
AOs must comply with the updated instructional material from the date of publication.
AOs can contact their local Regional Assurance Manager should they require support in meeting the updated and clarified requirements.
