Purpose
This Industry Advice Notice (IAN) is to advise industry, authorised officers (AOs) and export establishments of clarifications and changes to the horticulture inspection instructional materials.
Summary of changes and key points
- The following instructional material has been updated and published on the Plant Export Operations Manual:
- Exports work instruction: Inspecting horticulture for export using in-line sampling for export
- Exports work instruction: Inspecting horticulture for export using end-point sampling.
- Updates include clarification and information regarding:
- the automatic validation process of Accredited properties in the Plant Exports Management System (PEMS)
- fields added in PEMS inspection records
- labelling requirements subject to AO validation
- requirements for AOs to advise the Horticulture Export Program of pest detections if specified in a protocol or work plan
- formatting changes to align with the new instructional material templates as outlined in IAN 2024-08: Plant Export Operations – Ongoing conversion of instructional material
Background
We have updated the Exports work instructions to incorporate automatic validation processes established in PEMS. Further updates have also been made to advise AOs of additional inspection responsibilities relating to labelling requirements and pest notification to meet importing country requirements.
