Purpose
This Industry Advice Notice (IAN) is to advise industry that exports of tomatoes to New Zealand is temporarily suspended due to the detection of Tomato Brown Rugose Fruit Virus (ToBRFV).
Summary of changes and key points
- The New Zealand National Plant Protection Organisation, The Ministry of Primary Industries (MPI) has advised that, effective as of 24 August 2024, the export of all tomatoes produced in Australia to New Zealand has been temporarily suspended.
- Commodities affected:
- Tomatoes (Solanum lycopersicum, also known as Lycopersicon esculentum)
- MICoR has been updated to reflect the suspension.
- New Zealand have undertaken to review this decision in 7 days.
IMPORTANT: Consignments of tomatoes that have received phytosanitary certification prior to or on the 23 August 2024 are permitted for export to New Zealand.
