Purpose
This Industry Advice Notice (IAN) is to provide industry stakeholders with an update on the renewal of our Country Recognition Agreement (CRA) with Indonesia.
Summary of changes and key points
- Our CRA with Indonesia, which recognises Australia’s food safety systems for fresh food of plant origin has been renewed.
- The renewed CRA is valid from 27 April 2024 for 3 years.
- The CRA lists the recognised products under the CRA can be found in attachment 1.
- The food safety requirements for exportation of recognised products are:
- All consignments must be accompanied by Prior Notice issued by the exporter or their representative in Australia.
- Prior Notice must be issued before the product arrives in Indonesia.
Background
Indonesia requires exporting countries to apply for recognition of their food control system every 3 years—this is referred to as the Country Recognition Agreement (CRA). Australia has maintained successive CRAs since 2009.
The CRA is not related to phytosanitary market access and is not a technical market access condition, it does however provide favourable conditions including:
- Goods exported under the CRA provided access to Jakarta port.
- Goods are not detained for food surveillance testing upon arrival.
