Purpose
This Industry Advice Notice (IAN) is to advise industry, authorised officers (AOs) and establishments of clarifications and changes to the Guideline: Inspection of prescribed grain and plant products for export.
Summary of changes and key points
Clarification and changes have been made on several policy points in the Guideline: Inspection of prescribed grain and plant products for export.
- Equipment for screening grain must be present at establishments where grain and plant products are inspected and packed.
- Application of the delay period of 12 hours between full flow path inspection and commencement of loading into bulk vessels. During delays, flow paths must still be inspected as thoroughly as possible in the available time, focusing on high-risk points. After the delay, the flow path must be run clean before loading starts.
Note: 12-hour delay allowances do not apply to Mobile Bulk Loading operations.
- Samples for packaged goods greater than 100kg, taken after packages are filled, need to be representative of the whole consignment. To ensure samples are representative of the entire consignment, samples must be collected via multiple subsamples throughout the consignment.
- Sampling requirements for bulka bags.
- Calculation and use of Cumulative Rejection Limit and Action Figure.
Background
Updates to the Guideline were made to provide clarification on some matters and for operational purposes.
