Purpose
This Industry Advice Notice (IAN) is to notify clients of changes to the appearance of official marks—bolt seals used to secure sea containers for Japan.
Summary of changes and key points
- Bolt seals used to secure sea containers for Japan will change in appearance. Please refer to Figure 1 below.
- These changes will come into effect on 1 October 2023.
- Registered export establishments must cease using the existing bolt seals on 30 September 2023.
- Further information regarding when to order the new seals, and the correct destruction procedures for current seals, will be provided shortly.
- Work plans will be updated to reflect this change.
Background
Japan protocol markets require all sea containers to be secured with Australia’s official marks—bolt seal.
Establishment responsibilities
- Export registered establishment operators are advised to keep adequate stocks of the current seals for use until 30 September 2023.
- Export registered establishment operators who require current container seals to secure containers for Japan must order the seals from VEMG Planning and Coordination team.
