Purpose
This Industry Advice Notice (IAN) is to advise industry of changes to the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) Commodity Treatment Information System (CTIS) for the uploading of in-transit cold treatment temperature data.
Summary of changes and key points
- APHIS will retire text file formats (TXT) for uploading in-transit cold treatment temperature data into CTIS on 30 August 2023. After 30 August, TXT data will no longer be accepted by CTIS.
- APHIS must approve all new cold treatment recording devices prior to utilising for in-transit cold treatment exports to the USA and will require all new recording devices to use the XML format.
- For vessels arriving in the United States from 1 September 2023, the cold treatment temperature data must be uploaded into CTIS using Extensible Markup Language (XML).
- For further information refer to the APHIS notice.
Background
APHIS is making these changes to the permitted file types to prevent chart upload failures, to ensure temperature charts upload correctly, and to increase data security.
Refer to previous IAN 2022-29 for further information on in-transit cold treatment requirements for citrus exports to the USA.
