14 April 2023
Purpose
This Industry Advice Notice (IAN) is to advise all users of the Plant Export Management System (PEMS) of an upgrade to the system on 15 April 2023.
Summary of changes and key points
On 15 April the PEMS system will be enhanced with the following:
RFP Net Metric Weight
- The total RFP Net Metric Weight value will now be displayed under the “RFP Details” section of the Grain and Plant Product inspection record. This value will be extracted from the RFP details held in EXDOC.
- Each inspection line weight will be displayed under the “Results” section.
Commodity Declaration
- Authorised Officers (AOs) will now need to complete the “Declaration” in the “Results” section, confirming the presented commodity matches the commodity listed in the extracted RFP prior to entering inspection results.
- The system will display an error if the inspection commodity and RFP commodity do not match upon “Submitting” the inspection record.
- If there is an error, AOs will need to liaise with the exporter or EDI user to align the RFP commodity with the commodity inspected.
Background
PEMS is an IT system used to capture and store inspection information relating to the export of plants and plant products from Australia; including plant export Authorised Officer (AO) commodity inspections, calibration results, transport unit inspections and all supporting documentation.
The availability of PEMS for industry streamlines the plant export inspection documentation process for clients and AOs by eliminating the need for manual documentation.
