13 January 2023
Purpose
This Industry Advice Notice (IAN) is to inform Australian manufacturers and exporters of food products that China’s General Administration of Customs (GACC) has removed COVID-19 testing for all imported products (including cold-chain products) from 8 January 2023.
Summary of changes and key points
- GACC has recently announced the following updates to COVID-19 testing requirements:
- from 8 January 2023 COVID-19 testing has been removed for all imported products (including cold-chain products)
- quarantine requirements for all incoming passengers have been lifted and disinfection of products on arrival is no longer required.
- The advice in this notice supersedes information provided in IAN 2022-21.
- We are working with officials to determine what this means for any Australian establishments currently suspended due to COVID-19 detections on product.
- We encourage all exporters to work with their importer to ensure that product meets the current importing country requirements.
