3 June 2022
Purpose
This Industry Advice Notice (IAN) is to advise stakeholders that on 14 June 2022 we are changing the process for issuing non-GMO certificates for grain consignments to Taiwan.
Summary of changes and key points
- On 14 June 2022, the Certificate as to Condition (GX46) will replace the current Declaration and Certificate as to Condition (EX188) for grain consignments to Taiwan attesting to non-GMO status.
- The manual EX188 will no longer be issued for grain consignments to Taiwan.
- The GX46 will be issued as an extra certificate from EXDOC, on security paper, saving exporters time and money.
- Authorisation of the Request For Permit (RFP) can be requested by emailing Assessment Services Exports.
- Relevant Micor Plants cases will be updated to reflect the updated certification requirements.
Background
Currently, the EX188 is being issued for grain consignments to Taiwan attesting to non-GMO status. Exporters are required to print the certificate template from our website and populate before sending to the Assessment Services Exports for authorisation. Issuing manual certificates is inefficient and more costly for exporters.
As part of our commitment to continuous improvement we have been looking at ways to reduce the number of manual certificates required for plant exports. We are now working with trading partners to transition existing arrangements to the new and improved certificate templates.
Exporter responsibilities
Prior to 14 June 2022, exporters should access the Micor Plants database and familiarise themselves with the updated certification requirements for grain consignments to Taiwan.
