Purpose
This Industry Advice Notice (IAN) is to advise the product security requirements for airfreight cherries and table grapes to Korea.
Summary of changes and key points
- The Korea Animal and Plant Quarantine agency (APQA) has clarified the product security requirements for airfreight cherries and table grapes to Korea.
- The requirements are effective immediately and applicable to product that is secured at pallet or carton level.
- The approved type of seal can be in the form of a tape, sticker or label and must be
- legible, printed and contain the words “PLANT QUARANTINE AUSTRALIA” in upper case
- applied to the carton as part of the sealing process (used to secure the carton) OR
- applied to the part securing the pallet (e.g., on cable tie for netted pallets) if the consignment is secured as a pallet.
- Note: For cherry exports, the “RELEASED FROM BIOSECURITY CONTROL” tape currently in use will continue to be recognised when applied to cartons as a seal.
- These requirements are not applicable to sea freight consignments where a container seal is applied.
