Purpose
This Industry Advice Notice (IAN) is to advise industry of the release of the job function HEP4001:9 Export inspection of horticulture protocol – leafy and other mixed vegetables.
Summary of changes and key points
- The job function HEP4001:9 Export inspection of horticulture protocol – leafy and other mixed vegetables is now available.
- Persons wanting to apply to become appointed in HEP4001:9 must follow the instructions provided on the Authorised Officers webpage.
- The authorised officer (AO) training and assessment fee of $1750 will apply to applicants who have not previously applied for a HEP4001: Export inspection of horticulture protocol job function.
- HEP4001:9 Export inspection of horticulture protocol – leafy and other mixed vegetables has a pre-requisite of HOR3002:9 Export inspection of fruit and vegetables – leafy and other mixed vegetables.
Background
On 25 February 2021, the Export Plan for fresh produce from Australia to New Zealand came into effect and included peas (green/snow/sugarsnap) and sweetcorn.
These commodities are therefore classified as protocol and require AOs to have HEP4001:9 Export inspection of horticulture protocol – leafy and other mixed vegetables to conduct inspections.
AO responsibilities
- New applicants wishing to apply for the HEP4001:9 job function must first apply to become an AO by following the instructions provided on the Authorised Officers webpage.
- Existing AOs wishing to add the HEP4001:9 job function to their appointment can do so through the Plant Export Management System.
- Note: Instructions for adding job functions can be found in the Work Instruction: Requesting additional job functions in the Plant Export Management System published on the Authorised Officers webpage.
- AOs must comply with the instructional material.
