Purpose
This Industry Advice Notice (IAN) is to advise Authorised Officers with the Bulk Vessel Inspection job function that the process for attaching Take 5 documentation has been amended.
Summary of changes and key points
In response to industry feedback, the process for providing individual Take 5 Assessments has been amended to allow the documents to be attached by an AO on behalf of another individual involved in the inspection, as long as the document has been signed and dated by the appropriate person. The Reference: Plant Exports Management System (PEMS) Authorised Officer user guide - bulk vessel inspections has been updated to reflect this change.
Background
PEMS is an IT system that is used to capture and store information relating to the export of plants and plant products from Australia, including plant product export inspection, calibration results and transport units.
In May 2019, PEMS was made available to all plant export external AOs, exporters, EDI users and registered establishment executives, across Australia. The use of PEMS for the export of plants and plant products will become mandatory from 1 February 2021.
The system is supported with a suite of tools, including user guides and factsheets, available on the Plant Export Management System webpage.
