Background
Work is being completed on the development of phytosanitary treatment standards and other conditions of trade that will facilitate new or improved market access for Australian plants and plant products.
The development and application of treatment standard packages will provide a stronger platform for market access negotiation. These packages will help build trading partner’s understanding of treatments and how they are applied in Australia and promote acceptance of these treatments and compliance measures. This will protect the status of market access and present cost savings and efficiencies to industry.
Treatment packages will be developed for cold treatment, dimethoate dipping, fumigation, irradiation and vapour heat treatment.
