Purpose
The purpose of this Industry Advice Notice is to advise that the Work Plan: Australian citrus exports to the United States of America (work plan) has been updated.
Summary of changes and key points
In-transit cold treatment schedules for Queensland fruit fly (Bactrocera tryoni) have been changed for the following commodities:
- Grapefruit (Citrus paradisi)
- Tangelos (Citrus paradisi x Citrus reticulata).
The Micor case and work plan for the export of citrus to the United States has been updated. The work plan is available in Micor Plants.
Background
The Department of Agriculture and Water Resources and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) worked together to agree on new in-transit cold treatment schedules for grapefruit and tangelos exported from non-PFA districts of Australia.
Exporter and authorised officer responsibilities
All treatment providers, exporters and authorised officers must be aware of and follow the conditions detailed in the current work plan. The work plan is to be referred to in conjunction with the conditions in the USDA Treatment Manual and relevant instructional material on the Plant Export Operations Manual.
