Horticulture Exports Program – New market access conditions for export of Australian nectarines to China
Purpose
To advise industry of the new protocol requirements for the export of nectarines to China.
Background
The department and General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People’s Republic of China (AQSIQ) signed a protocol of phytosanitary requirements for the export of nectarines from Australia to China on 20 May 2016. This protocol outlines the quarantine pests and other key conditions and requirements for the export of nectarines to China.
Key points
Growers must be registered with the department and undertake routine monitoring for pests as outlined in the protocol.
Packhouses and treatment facilities must be registered with the department for exporting to China. These establishments must have a documented standard operating procedure for export processes.
Advice regarding the registration for export approval for the 2016-17 season will be provided in an industry advice notice in early July 2016.
Export conditions are outlined in the protocol and MICoR case for nectarines to China on the MICoR Plants website.
