Purpose
To advise industry of the release of revised conditions for the export of mangoes and lychees from Australia to USA.
Background
The Australian Department of Agriculture and Water Resources and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) have signed the revised Pilot Audit Program for Irradiation Treatment and Certification of Mango and Lychee (Fruit) from Australia Operational Work Plan (OWP). The revised OWP is to be referred to in conjunction with conditions in the USDA Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Manual.
Key points
The revised OWP is now in effect. The revised OWP details export requirements for mango and lychee fruit undergoing irradiation as a phytosanitary treatment.
All growers, packhouses, treatment facilities, exporters and peak industry bodies must be aware of and follow conditions detailed in the revised OWP.
