This Industry Advice Notice (IAN 2012/12) is an update to information provided in IAN 2012/03 relating to the suspension of fuzzy cotton seed exports to the United States of America.
USA Department of Agriculture (USDA), Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has advised DAFF Biosecurity that their suspension of fuzzy cotton seed exports to the USA has been lifted, and new import permits have been issued.
APHIS also advised of an update in the USA Federal Register Volume 77, Issue 103 and that a new methyl bromide fumigation treatment schedule has been added to the USA Plant Protection and Quarantine Treatment Manual to control the fungal plant pathogen Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. vasinfectum (FOV). This advice can be viewed in the attachments provided.
Exporter’s responsibilities
- Exporters holding valid import permits, who intend to export fuzzy cotton seed to the USA should contact the Grain & Seed Export program before commencing the consolidation of product, to ensure they can meet the requirements as specified by APHIS.
