This Industry Advice Notice is to advise that China has officially notified AQIS of the discovery of the bacterium Erwinia persicina in Australian dried field peas (Pisum sativum). China now requires all Australian peas to be tested and found free from Erwinia persicina.
Prior to the consignment being presented for inspection by AQIS, a certificate of analysis from a State Department of Agriculture or a NATA accredited laboratory must be presented to the AQIS inspector showing negative test results. AQIS will then be able to include an additional declaration on the phytosanitary certificate that a representative sample of the peas has been tested and found free from Erwinia persicina.
The PHYTO database and EXDOC have been amended to reflect these changes. All other phytosanitary requirements for China remain unchanged.
If you require further information please contact your local AQIS office. Contact details are available from the AQIS website
