This Industry Advice Notice is to provide information about important changes to Indonesian phytosanitary requirements.
The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) has been made aware of the implementation of new Indonesian phytosanitary requirements applying to all countries exporting relevant horticulture products to Indonesia effective from 27 March 2006.
The information at present indicates that the new Indonesian phytosanitary requirements include:
- Recognition of pest free areas for fruit flies subject to confirmation by Indonesia.
- The availability of intransit cold disinfestation is unclear. However we are seeking clarification of the status of this treatment option as a matter of urgency.
- Cold disinfestation treatment for Queensland fruit fly at:
- 0°C for 13 consecutive days;
- 0.55°C for 14 days; and
- 1.1°C for 18 days
- Cold disinfestation for Mediterranean fruit fly at
- 0°Cfor 12 days;
- 0.55°C for 13 days;
- 1.1°C for 14 days
- 1.6°C for 16 days; and
- 2.2°C for 18 days.
- Fumigation with methyl bromide at
- 32 gm3 at 21°C for 2 hrs;
- 40 gm3 at 16-20°C for 2 hrs; and
- 48 gm3 at 11-15° C for 2 hrs.
DAFF is currently seeking urgent clarification of the new requirements. Additional detail will be provided when it becomes available.
