Purpose
This Market Access Advice (MAA) notifies industry about changes to European Union (EU) listing requirements for Australian establishments that export honey and apiculture products for human consumption, and a new eCert that is available for edible beeswax to the European Union.
Summary of key points
- Existing Australian establishments that export honey and other apiculture products intended for human consumption to the EU have been listed in the new section of TRACES titled ‘Food-Honey and other apiculture products establishments’ to comply with Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2023/2652.
- No further action is required for these honey establishments. However, exporters are encouraged to verify their establishment’s listing details in EU TRACES prior to their next shipment.
- The eCert template EUH1EX for honey and apiculture products for human consumption to the European Union (EU) has been updated to reflect the certificate attestations required for edible beeswax.
- Beeswax, other than beeswax in the form of honeycomb, does not require the EUH1EX eCert for honey and apiculture products for human consumption when the goods are exported to the EU for use in cosmetic products only.
- The below NEXDOC category codes are available when lodging a REX for the EUH1EX certificate to the EU:
- HN0001 – Honey
- HN0006 – Honey - blended
- HN0042 – Beeswax - edible
