Purpose
To notify exporters of changes to the manual export certificates for consignments of edible collagen and for consignments of composite products into Great Britain from 16 March 2023.
Summary of key points
The United Kingdom’s Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) requires new model certificate templates to be issued by all countries for edible collagen and composite products. Collagen is defined as the protein-based product derived from animal bones, hides, skins and tendons. Composite products are defined as products containing both products of plant origin and products of animal origin such as chocolate bars, biscuits, soups, frozen cakes and pies.
The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) has made the minor changes to certificate template number IGBG for exports of collagen and template number NGBB for exports of composite products.
The information to be entered by exporters to obtain these certificate templates has not changed. For Box 1.14 it is still necessary to insert the date of departure.
The other minor changes do not affect exporters. They are:
- Changes to the certificate titles, please refer to the information box below.
- Changes to legislative references in the attestations and added links to UK government documents concerning animal health.
- On the composite product certificate, additional attestations for products containing dairy and footnotes.
