Purpose
To notify exporters of changes to the export certificates for consignments of composite products into the European Union from 15 January 2023. Composite products are defined as products containing both products of plant origin and products of animal origin such as chocolate bars, biscuits, soups, frozen cakes and pies.
Summary of key points
- The European Union (EU) has implemented new requirements for model certificates for the entry into and transit though the Union of composite products as published in Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2022/1219.
- Export certificates for composite products issued (signed, stamped and dated) after 15 January 2023 must meet the new EU requirements.
- The department has revised the following certificate template in accordance with the new EU requirements:
Template number | Title of certificate |
---|---|
M492 (manual only) | Official certificate for the entry into the Union of not shelf-stable composite products and shelf stable composite products, containing any quantity of meat products except gelatine, collagen and highly refined products, and intended for human consumption |
- The outdated certificate template for M492 will not be accepted at EU Border Control Posts if it is issued after 15 January 2023.
- If you export composite products, please ensure you have the updated certificate template. The new certificate can be identified by the date at the bottom of each page, in this case 12/22.
- The latest certificate template can be requested through foodexports@aff.gov.au
- The department has not updated the following transit certificate for composite products due to lack of issuance:
Template number | Title of certificate |
---|---|
M492A (manual only) | Official certificate for the transit through the Union to a third country either by immediate transit or after storage in the Union of not shelf stable composite products and shelf stable composite products containing any quantity of meat products and intended for human consumption. |
- If exporters are interested in having certificate template M492A made available, please contact the department at exportstandards@aff.gov.au
