Purpose
To notify stakeholders that the European Union has extended the deadline for transition to their new export certification for edible products from 21 August 2021 to 15 January 2022.
Summary of key points
Existing EU certification requirements for edible products, including use of the existing paper-based health certificates will continue beyond 21 August 2021.
The department is continuing to engage with the EU to determine whether the new export certification, including electronic certification, may be implemented in advance of the 15 January 2022 deadline. The department will continue to keep industry informed.
As notified in the previous related Market Access Advices (Dairy MAA 2021-30; Fish MAA 2021-16; NPG MAA 2021-09), under Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/2235 the European Union set a deadline for new export certification of 21 August 2021. The release of subsequent Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2021/1329 revised this deadline to 15 January 2022.
The Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment encourages all exporters to work with their importer to ensure that product meets the current importing country requirements.
