Purpose
To notify of new electronic certification (eCert) arrangements for exports of animal skins, hides and wool to Japan.
Background
The Department of Agriculture and Water Resources is the central competent authority for the export of prescribed and non-prescribed goods.
For non-prescribed goods, the department issues export certificates in accordance with overseas country requirements.
The Japanese government advised that from 27 March 2018 Australian animal skins, hides and wool will require eCert certificates instead of paper export certificates.
Actions
Exporters or agents not currently registered in EXDOC must register as an EXDOC exporter prior to 27 March 2018 to have their eCerts raised through the EXDOC system for skins hides and wool to Japan.
Exporters or agents will be able to print an ‘extract’ of the electronic certificate in order to satisfy commercial arrangements where necessary.
The department will not issue manual certificates to exporter of agents after 27 March 2018 for skins, hides and wool being shipped to Japan.
