This notice advises of the public consultation (‘Have Yor Say’) period for improving the Export Control Rules applicable to 2 meat commodity rules: Export Control (Meat and Meat Products) Rules 2021 (the Meat Rules) and Export Control (Wild Game Meat and Wild Game Meat Products) Rules 2021 (the Wild Game Meat Rules).
Scope
This notice applies to all registered establishments preparing the following goods for export:
- meat and meat products
- wild game meat and wild game meat products
Requirements
The Have Your Say (HYS) public consultation on the amendments to the export control rules will open Monday 29 January 2024 on the department website.
The HYS link is https://haveyoursay.agriculture.gov.au/export-control-rules-2021-proposed-improvements-2024 and when the consultation goes live on 29 January should take stakeholders to the relevant webpage.
The department is seeking your feedback on our proposed amendments to the Export Control Rules 2021. There are information sheets outlining the proposed improvements for each applicable export control rule.
For meat commodities, the proposed changes affect the Meat Rules (tier 1 and meat export licences) and the Wild Game Meat Rules (tier 1).
The closing date for the consultation is Sunday, 3 March 2024.
We continually review the Export Control Rules to ensure the framework remains fit-for-purpose and meets the needs of exporters. We invite and welcome your feedback on the further proposed improvements to the Rules. We will use your feedback to make sure the Rules continue to meet the needs of Australian exporters and support the export of our agricultural goods.
