Purpose
To notify industry of upcoming stakeholder engagement sessions on the Department of Agriculture’s redesign of its food export certification fees and charges.
Summary of key points
The Department of Agriculture is providing opportunities for export certification industry stakeholders to participate in face-to-face engagement sessions on the draft food export cost recovery implementation statement (CRIS).
Expressions of interest are being sought for sessions to be scheduled on weekdays between 25 November and 6 December 2019 in metropolitan centres, as well as major regional towns (for example Mildura). Sessions can be arranged for the department’s meat, fish, dairy and non-prescribed goods export arrangements.
These sessions will provide an opportunity for you to give us feedback or ask questions about the CRIS and the new fees and charges. Details for the sessions will be sent out to those who register interest by Friday 22 November 2019. Please note where there is limited interest for a session in particular locations, sessions may be provided through telephone conference instead of a face-to-face session.
To register your interest to attend one of these sessions, please send an email to costrecovery@aff.gov.au by 4:00pm on Thursday 21st November 2019, with the following information:
- Name
- Organisation

Background
We are revising our exports cost recovery arrangements to ensure their ongoing financial sustainability and to reflect the current regulatory business model.
A draft CRIS for the food export cost recovery arrangements has been published for comment. The CRIS outlines the cost of export regulatory activities and proposes new fees and charges.
We are conducting public consultation to seek feedback on the CRIS through our Have Your Say stakeholder engagement platform for a period of 2 months, commencing 10 October 2019 and ending 10 December 2019.
