In accordance with Regulation (EC) No 854/2004, Australia is required to provide the European Union (EU) with a list of establishments (including vessels) approved to export fish and fishery products to EU member states.
The EU has recently reviewed the information required to be included on the approved list for freezer and factory vessels and determined that information currently provided does not allow reliable identification of vessels. To address these concerns, the EU now requires the following information to be included on the approved list:
- IMO/Lloyd’s number (if issued)
- International radio call sign
- Registration number (external identification in flag state registry)
- Flag (Country of registration)
This information is required for all vessels with existing approval as well as vessels which are added to the approved list in the future.
Action required for owners of vessels currently listed on the EU approved list
If your vessel is currently approved to export to the EU, you must supply the above information by completing the template at Attachment 1 by 31 July 2013 and emailing it to Dairy Eggs and Fish. Please note that if DAFF does not receive your updated vessel details by 31 July 2013, product sourced from this vessel may not be able to be exported to the EU.
Action required for owners of vessels wishing to be added the EU approved list
If you want to add vessel(s) to the EU approved list, please contact your local regional DAFF office for further information.
