Purpose
This Market Access Advice (MAA) notifies changes to the Sanitary Phytosanitary import clearance (SPS-IC) and validity period for fish and fish products exported to the Philippines.
Summary of key points
- The Philippines government has notified the department that Department of Agriculture (DA) Administrative Order No.6 Series of 2022 - Revised Rules and Regulations Governing the Importation of Agricultural and Fish and Fishery/Aquatic Products; Animal Feeds, Feed Ingredients and Feed Additives; and Fertilizers, Pesticides and other Agricultural Chemical Products into the Philippines is in force.
- The DA requires that a SPS-IC be issued from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) prior to exporting fish and fish products to the Philippines.
- The product/consignment must have left Australia, based on the date of issuance of the SPS-IC:
- Within 30 days for live, fresh and chilled fish
- Within 45 days for other frozen and other fish and fishery/aquatic products.
- The department encourages exporters to work collaboratively with their importers regarding this implementation.
