Purpose
This Market Access Advice (MAA) provides an update to a previous Market Access Advice (MAA2020-22) regarding the government certificate (health certificate) to be used for the export of non-viable fish products to China from 1 January 2021.
Summary of key points
- On 30 December 2020, the department received advice from the General Administration of Customs, People’s Republic of China (GACC) that Australia can continue to use its existing non-viable seafood health certificate (FX46CN), pending approval of revised health certification.
- On this basis, the department will continue to issue the current health certificate. The current arrangement and format of certification will remain unchanged until further notice.
- At this stage, the guidance material provided in MAA2020-22 is not required. This MAA replaces MAA 2020-22.
- The department encourages all exporters of seafood to continue to work with their importers to stay informed of Chinese border inspection activities and ensure that product meets importing country requirements.
Background
- On 16 November 2020, the department received an official request from the GACC advising that current health certification used for the import of (non-viable) aquatic products into China needed to be amended and approved by GACC in line with new import requirements, by 1 January 2021.
- The department has presented an amended certification for GACC approval on 18 December 2020.
