MAA 2013/06
This Market Access Advice replaces MAA 2013/03. The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) provides the following update on the export market response following the detection of notifiable avian influenza in Western Australia (WA).
This MAA provides updated advice for the export of eggs and egg products to Singapore.
Since the outbreak of low pathogenicity avian influenza in WA, Singapore has agreed to proposed health certification changes for eggs and egg products. Please find updated certification below.
For Table Eggs
Use EX46EG (electronic) with endorsement 4657 or EX46 (manual) with the following endorsement:
- The eggs were not derived from birds originating from a 10km radius of restricted and control areas around premises known to be affected by highly pathogenic avian influenza OR a 1km radius of restricted area around premises known to be affected by low pathogenicity notifiable avian influenza.
- The eggs are unfertilised and derived from layer flocks kept in a farm accredited for the import of eggs by AVA Singapore.
- The farm where the eggs originate has been tested and found to be free from Salmonella enteritidis and no case of velogenic Newcastle disease, infectious bursal disease, EDS '76 or chronic respiratory disease due to Mycoplasma gallisepticum or M. synoviae, salmonellosis (including S. pullorum), duck virus enteritis or duck viral hepatitis has been diagnosed on the farm for the last three months prior to export.
- The eggs were clean, fresh and fit for human consumption, and packed into new disposable boxes for export.
For Egg Products That Are Not Heat Treated
Use EX46SG (electronic) with endorsement 4657 or EX46 (manual) with the following endorsement:
Egg Products That Are Heat Treated
Use EX46SG with endorsement 4802 (electronic) or EX46 (manual) with the following endorsement:
- The processed egg products have been processed to ensure the destruction of avian influenza virus in accordance with Article 10.4.25 of the Terrestrial Animal Health Code (OIE).
Note: Part 1. of the new endorsement for egg products refers to treatment procedures in accordance with Article 10.4.25 of the Terrestrial Animal Health Code (OIE). These procedures can be found at attachment 1 or on the OIE website.
DAFF will continue to take all possible action to minimise the effects of this disease incident on trade and will keep industry informed of further developments. However, exporters should note that even if health certificates are able to be issued, all eggs and egg products that are exported from Australia at this time to any market carry a risk of being rejected at port-of-entry. Trading partners may impose bans on poultry products sourced from the affected region in WA, the state of NSW or the whole of Australia despite current health certification requirements.
