The Department of Agriculture (the department) has recently been advised that Indonesia’s Ministry of Agriculture have stopped issuing import permits for UHT milk in one litre pack sizes.
The department understands that these restrictions have been introduced as Indonesian authorities consider that these products can be manufactured locally.
While only UHT milk in one litre pack sizes has been specified to date, it is possible that restrictions could be introduced for all retail ready UHT milk or other dairy products that may be considered as being able to be locally manufactured.
We understand that there is no restriction on sending Bulk UHT to Indonesia
Australian exporters are strongly encouraged to ensure that an import permit has been issued by the Indonesian authorities prior to preparing product for / exporting to Indonesia.
The department will continue to make representations on this matter and will keep industry informed of any changes.
