Purpose
This Market Access Advice (MAA) notifies industry about changes to access to European Commission (EC) TRACES-NT from 11 June 2024.
Summary of key points
The log-in procedures for access to TRACES-NT will be changed from 11 June 2024. From that date, the EC have advised that all TRACES users will need a two-factor authentication to access TRACES. This can be done in several ways, however for Australian residents it appears that the EU Login mobile phone app is the most reliable option.
The EC advise that to avoid any disruption of service from 11 June 2024, it is best to set up the two-factor authentication as soon as possible. To do so, users should go to https://webgate.ec.europa.eu/cas , log in with the username and password they use for TRACES-NT (EU Login account) and follow the instructions.
The EC have created a video guide (https://audiovisual.ec.europa.eu/en/video/I-231618) explaining the set-up of the two-factor authentication.
A step-by-Step guide can be viewed or downloaded in PDF and Word Formats here: EU Login - European Commission Authentication Service - Erasmus+ & European Solidarity Corps guides - EC Public Wiki (europa.eu) using this link. Please refer to the section:
"Set up Two-factor authentication with the EU Login Mobile app" which is on page 11 of the PDF document. A user guide and frequently asked questions relating to EU Login additional instructions on the EU Login Help page.
Background
TRACES NT is the European Union’s digital certification and management platform for importation of goods into the European Union. Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry export systems connect with TRACES NT to digitise our export documentation exchange.
Many exporters and establishments use access to the TRACES-NT system to:
- Ensure their business is correctly listed.
- Look up the TRACES-NT “identifier code” for establishments, exporters, importers and places of destination that goods are delivered to in the EU.
- Check certificates and download PDF copies when required.
