Key points
- In 2019 the department was notified by Mexico’s biosecurity agency, Servico Nacional de Sanidad, Inocuidad y Calidad Agroalimentaria, that Mexico’s Federal Animal Health Law required the following information to appear on health certificates (in English and Spanish) for all animal products for human consumption:
- Batch number/ Número de Lote
- Packing date/ Fecha de empaque
- Expiry date/ Fecha de caducidad
- This information is now included in the standard health certificate template (ZDMX01) for Mexico within the NEXDOC system.
- The department advises exporters that there is no longer a requirement to provide this information in the additional information section as previously advised in MAA 2019-12.
- The details on the health certificate must be consistent with the information displayed on the product label and is subject to verification by port officials.
