Purpose
This Market Access Advice is to notify industry of an update to information on Egypt’s process for halal certification. Egypt has extended the date of halal certification with IS EG Halal for milk and milk products exported from Australia until 31 March 2023.
Key points
- The Egyptian government has extended the time period during which milk and milk products that are not accompanied by a Halal certificate are allowed to enter into Egypt. The time period has been extended until 31 March 2023 (date of arrival at Egyptian ports). Exporters should liaise with their importer to confirm Halal requirements (including the payment of fees) and register with IS EG Halal well before the new deadline.
- Refer 2022-17 and 2022-04 for further details about IS EG Halal certification requirements.
- The department encourages exporters to visit the Manual of Importing Country Requirements (Micor) for Egypt for further detail on export requirements.
