Purpose
To remind stakeholders of the need to complete the ‘product use indicator’ field in the Next Export Documentation System (NEXDOC) for dairy electronic certification (eCert) to avoid consignments being detained in Japan.
Summary of key points
- Exporting requirements for Japan have not changed since the implementation of NEXDOC. Certification for all dairy and dairy products to Japan will continue through the eCert exchange (see MAA 2020 -24), except where a manual certificate is required.
- It is a requirement by Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) that the ‘product use indicator’ information is provided in each request for export (REX) within NEXDOC.
- If this information is not provided, consignments may be detained.
- The department is working to update NEXDOC to make the ‘product use indicator’ field a mandatory field. Until this update has been completed, exporters must review all REX’s prior to finalisation to ensure this information has been correctly populated.
