New rules for country of origin labelling
Reforms to country of origin labelling commenced on 1 July 2016 and are mandatory as of 1 July 2018. An Information Standard under Australian Consumer Law sets out the new country of origin labelling requirements for food sold in Australia. Under this Information Standard, businesses had until 30 June 2018 to transition to the new arrangements and current stock in trade can see out its shelf life.
