Animal Welfare Standards and Guidelines for Livestock at Processing Facilities and Establishments
AWTG 02-22 noted an update from Queensland that the independently facilitated stakeholder advisory group (SAG) has met 4 times this year. The SAG has covered general matters for inclusion in the standards and guidelines and will begin considering species-specific matters from June 2022. The SAG will continue to meet regularly in 2022.
Suitability of horses under existing Australian Animal Welfare Standards and Guidelines for Land Transport of Livestock
Queensland is continuing to finalise a consultation regulatory impact statement (CRIS) to seek feedback on the costs, benefits and impacts of the proposed options. Further details will be available on the AWTG website.
Virtual Fencing Technology
Stakeholder meetings have continued, and the subgroup will be stablishing a stakeholder reference group to inform its work shortly. The terms of reference to inform the comprehensive scientific literature review have been finalised and the procurement process for an independent consultant to conduct the review is underway. The literature review is due to begin in June and to be completed by the end of October 2022.
