Virtual Fencing Technology
AWTG 25-01 noted an update from the Commonwealth that AWTG feedback will be incorporated into the draft Australian Animal Welfare Guide for Virtual Fencing. Feedback on the draft guide will be sought from the stakeholder reference group shortly.
Implementation of the Australian Animal Welfare Standards and Guidelines for Poultry into state and territory legislation
AWTG 25-01 noted an update from Victoria regarding the work of the poultry implementation subgroup which is considering cross-jurisdictional issues.
Renewed Australian Animal Welfare Strategy (AAWS)
AWTG 25-01 noted an update from the Commonwealth that the National Statement on Animal Welfare was endorsed by all Agriculture Ministers and published on 13 December 2024. Next steps for AAWS development during 2025 include work on individual animal group ‘chapters’ with practical actions. These will be developed in consultation with stakeholders, with AWTG continuing its governance role.
