A revised Response Plan for red witchweed (Striga asiatica) was endorsed on 5 June 2020 by the National Management Group.
The Response Plan builds upon the outcomes achieved under the previous plan and is supported by the findings of an independent efficacy review of the program completed in 2019.
The National Red Witchweed Eradication Response Program is a deed-like response cost shared between affected government and industry parties since 2015.
The total cost share budget for the revised Response Plan 2019-2025 is $5.25 million.
Red witchweed was first detected near Mackay in Queensland in July 2013 and is being eradicated from eight properties in the area. For further information on red witchweed, please visit the Outbreak website.
