The National Management Group (NMG) met on 29 January 2025 and approved a five-year Response Plan inclusive of a cost-shared budget of $45.33 million for the National Electric Ant Eradication Program (NEAEP).
The Response Plan demonstrates the long-term commitment from governments to eradicate electric ants from Australia. The NEAEP commenced in Far North Queensland in May 2006 with the Response Plan 2024-2029 incorporating expert advice on the optimal operation of the program, including modern strategies and tactics.
Queensland is leading the nationally coordinated and funded response and is working with property owners and local governments to undertake appropriate response activities. More information on response activities is available at www.business.qld.gov.au | Electric ants in Queensland.
