Coming soon – Episode 16 – One Health in action to end rabies deaths by 2030.
Rabies is a zoonotic viral disease resulting in about 59,000 human deaths a year globally, with most occurring in Africa and Asia. Infected dogs are responsible for its transmission to humans in over 96% of cases.
Australia is one of the few countries in the world that remains free of dog rabies lyssavirus. If rabies became established in Australia, the toll on human and animal health would be profound and the cost of response and recovery immense.
This webinar will shine a spotlight on some of the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry collaborative partnerships that are supporting our neighbours and keeping Australia free of dog rabies.
