The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry has once again walked away with a Good Design Award for simplifying processes to benefit industry.
The award-winning Digital Services to Take Farmers to Market program was acknowledged for its ability to simplify administration of tariff rate quotas and improve the service for exporters.
Deputy Secretary for Trade and Regulation, Tina Hutchison, said exporters can access quotas that reduce tariff rate arrangements for certain products under international trade agreements.
“The new simplified administration is already helping us streamline the experience for exporters to get their goods to overseas markets,” Ms Hutchison said.
“Our project teams are using evidence-based, design-led approaches to deliver an export service that cuts red tape – supporting Australian exporters grow their businesses.
“This award recognises the design strategy it took to develop a new solution for administering tariff rate quotas that improves timeliness and visibility for exporters.
“I’m pleased to see our innovative design work recognised with this award. These good design solutions will help the agriculture sector reach its goal of being a $100 billion industry by 2030.
“Our department will continue to improve on this award-winning design with future inclusions such as a self-service option to view the quota balance via our online digital export service.”
The Good Design Award judges said the department ensured the project was developed to cater to a broad audience. The diverse perspectives used in the creation led to an improve service delivery and efficiency for exporters.
